Scheduled future scan
Scheduled future scans are advantageous when you need to schedule a scan for a specific date and time in advance. This allows you to plan security assessments to coincide with maintenance windows or other operational considerations, ensuring minimal disruption to regular activities.
This document describes how to schedule a future scan in Invicti Platform.
All scans must comply with the Authorized target scanning policy. Review this document before executing the scans.
Steps to schedule a future scan
After configuring your targets, you are ready to begin scanning.
-
Select Scans > DAST scheduled scans from the left-side menu.
-
Click New scan schedule to open the scan settings.
-
In the Scan target drop-down, use the checkboxes to mark the targets you want to scan.
-
Choose a scan profile from the list of available default or custom profiles.
-
From the Report drop-down menu, choose your preferred report type.
-
Optionally, in the Tags field, add tags to label and organize the scan.
For more information, refer to the scan tags document.
-
Enter an optional Schedule name to differentiate the scan.
-
In the Start fields, specify when you want the scan to begin.
-
Choose Frequency from: daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or custom.
-
In the Is there an end date for the schedule? option select Yes to choose the end date. The default is No.
-
In the Would you like these future scans to be incremental? option select Yes to focus on scanning the changes only. The default is No.
-
Confirm the scan configuration and schedule the scan by pressing Schedule scan.
The scan starts automatically as per the set schedule. You can access the scan results by clicking on the relevant line on the list of scans on the DAST scheduled scans page. Refer to the Review scan results document for more information.
Alternative scan schedule options
If you don't want to run a future scan, the following alternative scan schedule options are available:
- Instant scan - provides a quick and efficient way to detect and address potential vulnerabilities in real-time
- Recurring scan - allows you to set up automated scanning routines to execute at predefined intervals on specified days
- Incremental scan - selectively scans only newly discovered or modified pages
An ephemeral target with a dynamically generated URL can only be scanned via API or during CI/CD.
