Add new user
You can add users to Invicti AppSec manually or by importing them from a configured single sign-on (SSO) provider. You must create users before they can log in, receive issue assignments, or receive reports.
note
Users cannot be assigned directly to projects. Users must first be added to a team, and the team is then assigned to projects. For more information, see Add or remove team members.
Steps to add a new user
- Select Users and teams > Users from the left side menu.
- Click Add User.
- Fill in the following fields:

| Type | The authentication method for the user: Manual, or an active SSO provider (for example, Okta, LDAP, Azure AD). | Yes |
| Username | A unique username (minimum 3 characters, alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes allowed). | Yes |
| The user's email address. | Yes | |
| Role | The role to assign to the user. This determines their permissions. For more information, see Roles overview. | Yes |
| Password | A password for the user (8-30 characters). Only required for manual authentication. | Yes (manual) |
| Password Repeat | Confirm the password. | Yes (manual) |
| Shadow User | A backup user who receives issue assignments when this user is unavailable. For more information, see Shadow user assignment. | No |
| Business Units | The business units to associate with this user. Only shown for roles that support business unit access. | Conditional |
- Click Save to create the user.

You can also import users in bulk from SSO providers under Integrations > Single Sign-On Tools by clicking Fetch Users on the configured provider.
