View, update and delete internal agents

In Invicti AppSec Core you can view all of your internal agents from the Scans > DAST agents page.

This document walks you through viewing each agent's details and shows you how to update or remove them.

For information on how to install internal agents, refer to:

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) to the right of an agent, then click View.

  3. Invicti AppSec displays a drawer with the details of the selected agent:

  • Targets tab: View assigned targets. You can remove existing targets or add new ones by clicking Assign asset.
tip

Invicti AppSec automatically assigns agents a GUID (globally unique identifier) and uses it mainly for troubleshooting and logging.

Update an internal agent

The Invicti engine is updated regularly when a new version is released. The latest available engine is always pulled so that customers don't have to run an update. These engine updates don't always impact internal agents.

Occasionally, a new version of the internal agent itself is released. When this happens, updating the agent requires the following steps:

  1. Reinstall the internal agent using the appropriate installation method.
  2. Reassign the updated agent to its target(s).
  3. Delete the old agent once the new one is active.

To update an internal agent means to install it again. Follow the relevant installation instructions:

Delete an internal agent

note

If you delete an agent while it's scanning or it's in the queue, Invicti AppSec cancels those scans. You need to assign new agents and restart the scan.

  1. Select Scans > DAST agents from the left-side menu.

  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) to the right of an agent, then select Delete.

  3. Use the drop-down to select a new agent for all the targets currently assigned to the agent you want to delete. This ensures that the scanning process for those targets continues uninterrupted even after deleting the internal agent.

  4. Select Yes to delete the agent.

  5. The agent is now deleted.

Uninstall the Windows agent service

Deleting a Windows agent from Invicti AppSec removes it from the platform but doesn't uninstall the service from the host machine. After deleting the agent in Invicti AppSec, run the following command with administrative privileges on the Windows host to remove the service:

.\invicti-agent.exe service -u --log-level=info --log-file
