Track scan history for a target
Track the security scan history for your target to see past results, compare findings across scans, and re-run scans when needed. This document explains how to view scan records, understand scan details, manage scans, and troubleshoot common issues.
Why this matters
Maintaining a complete scan history lets you identify trends in vulnerability discovery, verify that previous issues were fixed, and compare scanner performance over time. Quick access to rescan and comparison tools helps you respond faster to security changes in your live applications.
Open the scan history for a target
The Scans tab lists every scan run against the target, split into Completed and Failed tabs so you can focus on the runs that matter.
To open the scan history:
- Select Inventory > Targets from the left-side menu.
- Click the target name to open its dashboard.
- Select the Scans tab.
Read each scan at a glance
Use these columns to size up a scan before opening it:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Scan date | The date and time the scan was executed. |
| Scanner | The scanner tool used for the scan. |
| Scan type | The type of scan (for example, DAST, API). |
| Metadata | Custom metadata associated with the scan. |
| Duration | The time taken to complete the scan. |
| Critical / High / Medium / Low | The number of vulnerabilities discovered at each severity level. |
| Action | Available actions for the scan. |
Use the filters at the top of the table to narrow down results.
The vulnerability counts shown for each scan reflect the number of vulnerabilities discovered at scan time. Changes made to vulnerabilities after the scan (such as severity overrides) aren't reflected in this view.
Act on a scan
While you're on the Scans tab, you can do any of the following:
- View vulnerabilities: click the Vulnerabilities button in the Action column to triage findings and assign them to your team.
- Rescan: click Rescan to re-run the scan with the same settings. Use it to confirm fixes worked or pick up changes after an application update. Not available for manual scans or when the scanner tool was disabled.
- Compare scans: tick the checkbox on two scan rows, then click Compare for a side-by-side view. Useful for tracking remediation progress or checking scanner consistency.
- Export scans: click Export above the table to download the scan history as a file you can share with your team or use in compliance reports. The export respects any active filters.
- New scan: click New scan > Run custom scan to start a new scan. Useful when you need urgent results outside your scheduled scan window.
Troubleshooting
Scans aren't appearing in the table
Scans may not appear immediately after completion due to data synchronization. Wait a few minutes and refresh the page. If scans still don't appear, check that the target has actually run a scan - navigate to the target details page and verify the last scan date. If no scans have been run, follow the instructions on the target dashboard to start a scan.
The Rescan button is greyed out
The rescan button isn't available for manual scans or when the scanner tool was turned off. Check the Scanner column to see which tool was used. If you need to re-run the scan, you can select a scanner from the Start an instant scan dropdown and run a new scan instead.
Comparison shows no differences between two scans
No differences appear when both scans discovered the same vulnerabilities at the same severity levels. This can happen if no changes were made to the application between scans, or if new vulnerabilities were found but old ones weren't fixed. Review the vulnerability details in each scan separately to see which issues were found in each run.
Export file doesn't include all the scans I expected
The export respects any filters currently applied to the table. If a filter is active, only matching scans are exported. Clear all filters at the top of the table and re-run the export to include all scans.
