Multiple Targets showing the same URL after upgrade
After upgrading from Invicti Enterprise (IE) or Acunetix 360 (A360) to Invicti Platform, you may notice multiple Targets listed with the same website URL. Each Target represents a distinct scan configuration carried over from your previous product to ensure continuity.
This document explains why this happens, how to identify each target's source, and what you can do about it.
Overview
In IE and A360, a single target (identified by its domain name) can have multiple scan profiles and scheduled scans, each using different settings, authentication, policies, or schedules.
In Invicti Platform, each target contains its own embedded scan configuration. To preserve these configurations, Invicti Platform creates a separate target for each scan profile and scheduled scan. All targets are carried over with the IE target name. If the same IE target produces multiple Platform targets, they are named sequentially: the first keeps the original name, and subsequent ones become Target Name - 2, Target Name - 3, and so on. As a result, the same URL appears on multiple targets after upgrade, with each target representing a different preserved configuration.
Why this matters
This approach preserves operational continuity after the upgrade by ensuring that existing scan behaviors remain available, different security testing scenarios continue working as expected, and specialized configurations aren't lost. Without this separation, upgrading could overwrite or lose important scan configuration differences.
Identifying targets by source
Each target includes a description that identifies where it came from. Use this description to trace a target back to its original configuration in Invicti Enterprise.

Each description also includes the original IE target description appended after the source identifier, which can help you match the Platform target back to the source entry in Invicti Enterprise.

Post-upgrade actions
After reviewing your targets:
- Remove any targets that represent configurations you no longer need.
- Consolidate targets where you can merge multiple configurations into one.
- Update the scan profile on any target that received the default profile during the upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
This section answers common questions about how multiple targets with the same URL appear after an upgrade.
Is this a duplication issue?
No. Although multiple Targets may use the same URL, each Target represents a different preserved configuration set originating from separate scan profiles and scheduled scans in IE or A360.
Can targets be merged later?
Yes. After the upgrade, review Targets and decide whether some configurations are no longer needed or whether you can consolidate them.
Are schedules preserved after upgrade?
Invicti handles schedules separately during the upgrade. Refer to the Scheduled scans upgrade guide document for details.
Troubleshooting
I see many targets with the same URL and don't know which ones to keep
Open each target and check its description. The description tells you which scan profile or scheduled scan the target was created from. Keep the targets whose configurations you still use — for example, targets created from active scan profiles or scheduled scans you intend to continue running in Invicti Platform. Delete targets whose source configurations are no longer needed.
I deleted a target but a scheduled scan is now missing
If a target was created specifically to support a scheduled scan, deleting the target also removes that scan from Invicti Platform. Before deleting targets, check the target's description and cross-reference it against your scheduled scans in Scans > DAST Scan schedules. Refer to the Scheduled scans upgrade guide document for details on how scheduled scans are carried over.
The target description doesn't match anything I recognize from Invicti Enterprise
The description includes the original IE target description appended after the source identifier. If the IE target had no description, the appended section is empty and the description shows only the source label (for example, "Created a Default Target with no configuration"). Use the scan profile name or scheduled scan name in the description to trace the target back to its original configuration in Invicti Enterprise.
